Li Zong, Composer
Li Zong graduated from Shanghai Conservatory of Music with a bachelor’s degree in Music Composition and Production, and a master’s degree in Electronic Music Design. He holds a master's degree in Scoring for film and Multimedia from New York University.
Li plays an active role in the fields of multimedia scoring, indie music, fashion music, etc. Prior to coming to the U.S., he arranged music for TV programs such as “China's Got Talent" and “The Voice of China”, composed music for many movies, television series and commercials such as “The Banquet”, “A Land Without Boundaries”, “Detective Dee”, Kingsoft, Yishion fashion, etc.
Upon his U.S. arrival, Li’s works have appeared successfully on stage at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, the United Nations and many other prestigious venues and events. It is worth mentioning that "The Charm - Traditional Instrument, Modern Interpretation", a new folk music concert at the Carnegie Hall not only interpreted Sino-American musical culture through original repertoires but also brought traditional Chinese music new international vitality. The concert received congratulations and support from NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio, Congresswoman Grace Meng, the Chinese Consulate General in New York, and highlighted by Agence France-Presse, China Daily, South China Morning Post, and other international mainstream media. Li’s composition “Peace” was performed live by erhu and pipa musicians at the U.N. High-level Forum on the Culture of Peace in front of Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and representatives from more than 40 countries, who praised the work to have transcended the boundaries of traditional and modern music, fusing Chinese music with global tunes.
In additional, Li has composed runway music for four consecutive New York Fashion Week shows since 2014. His composition styles range from contemporary, modern electronic, Jazz, progressive rock, pop to world fusion. He composed the official theme song “Dreamspell” and official album “Solar Storm” for Vocaloid China’s V-singers, produced albums “Black Silk” and “Vermilion Bird” for overseas Chinese folk musicians. He has released several music albums such as “Drowning” and “Anima Blooming in Aqua”, composed soundtracks for over a dozen independent films and documentaries, among which “Woman's Gaze”, “Supercar Man”, and “The Visit” were chosen for Festival de Cannes, Hollywood International Film Festival, TMC London Film Festival, etc.
